Email notifications
Every email Serplyze sends: what triggers it, how often, who gets it, and where each member turns it on or off.
Serplyze sends three kinds of email: notifications about your projects, which every member switches on or off for themselves; scheduled reports, which are set up per report; and account emails such as a password reset, which are always sent.
Emails only ever name projects the recipient can open. A member who is limited to some projects gets alerts and summaries for those projects only.
Where you change them
- Open Settings → Notifications. The settings are yours alone: nobody else sees them, and nobody can change them for you.
- They apply to the current workspace. Your other workspaces have their own notification settings.
- The Email types card has one switch per email. A switch applies to every project of the workspace.
- The Per project card lets you give one project its own setting. Select the project, change a switch, and that project then ignores the default for that email. Use defaults removes the project's own settings.
- Emails go to the address of your account, and only once that address is verified.
Notification emails
| Trigger | At most | On by default for | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly summary | Once a week, on Monday morning | One email per member and workspace a week, covering all your projects | Owners, admins, members, viewers |
| Rank drop alerts | New alerts after a project's daily sync | One email per project a day | Owners, admins, members, viewers |
| Sync problems | Google access to a property is lost, or the daily sync fails twice in a row | One email per project a day | Owners and admins |
| First sync finished | A new project's first Search Console import is done | Once per project | Owners and admins |
| Product tips and offers | Occasional tips and plan offers, such as a one-time note a week into the Free plan | Rare; the Free plan note is sent once per workspace | Owners and admins |
Members and viewers can switch on the emails that are off by default for them. People with the Client role do not get notification emails. The exact send times and time zone are printed next to each switch in Settings → Notifications.
Weekly summary
- For each project you can see: clicks, impressions and visibility for the last 7 final days compared with the 7 days before, and the biggest gains and drops among your tracked keywords (up to five each).
- A keyword counts as a mover when it had at least 10 impressions in both weeks and moved by at least one full position.
- A project whose current week is not fully stored yet, for example one added a few days ago, is left out. If none of your projects qualifies, no email is sent.
- The summary is sent even in a week where no keyword moved.
Rank drop alerts
- Sent after a project's daily sync when it raised new alerts: keyword drops, lost keywords, traffic drops, ranking URL rules and your own alert rules. See Alerts for the thresholds.
- Alerts are evaluated on final Search Console days only, so the email does not react to provisional data.
- One email lists up to 15 alerts, most severe first, and says how many more are on the Alerts page.
- Alerts raised after that day's email wait for the next day's email. The same alert is not raised again for 7 days.
- Alerts on historical days, such as the first sync of a new project, are never emailed.
Sync problems
- Access lost: Google refused access to the project's Search Console property and an automatic retry at least 30 minutes later confirmed it. The email links to the place where you reconnect. See Google access.
- Sync failing: the daily sync failed twice in a row. Serplyze keeps retrying on its own; the email is for your information.
- Neither is sent during a project's first sync.
First sync finished
Sent once when a new project's first import is done and the rank tracker is ready. If you set up several sites at once, you get one email that lists them.
Unsubscribe links
- Every notification email has two links in the footer: Manage email notifications, which opens the settings, and Unsubscribe from these emails.
- The unsubscribe link works without signing in and opens a page with one Unsubscribe button. Mail apps that show their own unsubscribe button use the one-click header and unsubscribe you directly.
- Unsubscribing switches off that one email type for you in that workspace, exactly like the switch in the settings, including for projects that had their own setting. Your other emails and workspaces are not affected.
- The confirmation page has an Undo button. You can also switch the email back on in Settings → Notifications at any time.
Scheduled reports
Report emails are not part of your notification settings. They are set up on a report's Schedule tab by someone who can edit the project. See Reports.
- Frequency: daily on chosen weekdays, weekly, monthly or one-off, at a send time and time zone you pick.
- Content: an inline summary in the email body, the report as PDF (attached, or behind a link when it cannot be attached) and, if switched on, CSV files of the report's tables.
- A report can go to at most 20 addresses.
- A report is sent at most once every 20 hours.
- A workspace can send up to 200 report emails in any 24 hours on a paid plan and 50 on Free.
- People outside the workspace get an unsubscribe link in every report email. It stops that one report for that address, and the Schedule tab then shows the address as Unsubscribed. Adding the address again does not resubscribe it.
- Workspace members do not get an unsubscribe link in report emails. Ask the person who manages the report to remove your address.
On Free, a report can only be sent to members of the workspace with a verified email. Sending to clients and other outside addresses needs a paid plan.
Daily brands digest
- One email a day that ranks every project of the workspace by its whole-site clicks on the latest complete day, compared with the same weekday a week earlier.
- It goes to owners and admins by default, or to members that an owner or admin chooses. Clients never get it, and each recipient only sees the projects they have access to.
- It is managed on the Reports screen, on the Daily brands digest card: owners and admins set the send time, time zone and recipients and can pause it for everyone. Any recipient can use Unsubscribe me there, or the unsubscribe link in the email, which opts out only that person.
- A day without new data since the last digest is skipped.
The daily brands digest comes with the Agency add-on. See Plans and billing.
Account emails
These are sent because of something you or a teammate did. They have no unsubscribe link and cannot be switched off.
| Sent when | |
|---|---|
| Confirm your email | You sign up with an email address and password. You confirm the address before your first sign-in. |
| Reset your password | You ask for a password reset on the sign-in page. The link works for one hour. |
| Workspace invitation | An owner or admin invites you in Settings → Team. The link works for 7 days. |
| Password added | A password is added to an account that so far signed in with Google only. |
Serplyze itself does not send payment emails. Receipts and invoices are emailed by Stripe, our payment provider, to the invoice address in your billing details. There are no Slack or webhook notifications.
