AI search
What Search Console reports about AI Overviews and AI Mode, and the two estimates Serplyze builds from it: AI-style queries and CTR drop at top positions.
AI search collects what your Search Console data can say about AI Overviews and AI Mode. It states the facts first, then shows two estimates: how much of your visibility comes from the kind of queries AI Overviews answer, and which top-ranking queries lost clicks without losing rank.
What Search Console does and does not report
- Impressions, clicks and positions from AI Overviews and AI Mode are already inside the normal Web numbers that Traffic and the rank tracker show.
- A link shown in an AI Overview or AI Mode is an impression, and a click on it is a click. An AI Overview takes one position on the results page and every link in it gets that position. A follow-up question in AI Mode counts as a new query.
- The Search Console API has no AI filter, search type or search appearance for these features. No tool that reads Search Console can tell which of your clicks or impressions came from an AI answer.
Nothing on this screen is a measured AI Overview impression, click or position. Serplyze does not scrape Google results to check whether an AI Overview appears for a query.
Measured and estimated
The clicks, impressions, CTR and positions on the screen are your real Search Console numbers. What is estimated is the link to AI features: which queries count as AI-style, and why a CTR fell. Each of the three sections therefore carries an Estimate badge, and the same views in Traffic start their definition with “Estimate”.
How a query is classified as AI-style
AI-style is a label Serplyze puts on a query from its text. A query is AI-style when at least one of these holds:
- It has 6 or more words.
- It starts with an English question word or auxiliary: how, what, why, when, where, which, who, whom, whose, is, are, was, were, can, could, should, would, will, do, does, did.
- It contains a Turkish question word anywhere (for example nasıl, neden, nedir, hangi, kim, nerede, kaç), or ends with the question particle (mı, mi, mu, mü and forms such as midir).
- It contains a question mark.
Google most often shows AI Overviews for searches like these. A query matching the rule does not mean an AI Overview was shown for it. Question words in other languages are not recognised; long queries and question marks are, in any language.
AI-style queries
- Cards for Clicks, Impressions, CTR, Avg. position and Share of impressions, with a daily chart.
- The numbers are site-wide. The sync fetches them from Search Console with a query filter that applies the rule above: 16 months on the first sync, then one day at a time.
- The share is measured against named queries (brand plus non-brand), because query-filtered data leaves out the rare queries Google anonymizes.
- A rising share means more of your visibility comes from the kind of searches AI Overviews answer.
Top AI-style queries and pages
Two lists for the period: the AI-style Queries with the most clicks, and the Landing pages they reach, where each page adds up its AI-style queries and names the top one. Tracked queries link to their keyword page, and pages link to the page detail. These are the pages most likely to be cited in an AI answer, or to lose clicks to one.
CTR drop at top positions
This list holds queries that kept a top position but are clicked less. A query is listed when all of these are true:
- Its average position is 3 or better in both the period and the comparison period.
- Its position moved by at most 1, in either direction.
- It has at least 100 impressions in each period.
- Its CTR is at most 75% of what it was (a relative fall of 25% or more).
The screen shows the 10 queries with the most impressions; the export and the Traffic view have all of them. Same rank with fewer clicks often means something above the result takes the clicks. An AI Overview is a likely cause, but ads, other result features, seasonality or a changed title can do the same, and Search Console cannot say which.
Periods and comparisons
- Period buttons: 28 days, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and 16 months, all ending on the last final day.
- The comparison is the same period last year when Search Console still has it, otherwise the previous period, otherwise none.
- 16 months has no comparison, so changes are empty and the CTR drop list is not available for it.
The AI-style totals and chart are on every plan. On the Free plan the query lists and the CTR drop check look at your top 100 queries by clicks; paid plans check every query.
