Client portal
Give clients a read-only view of their own projects under your logo, with the Client role of the Agency add-on.
The client portal is what a person with the Client role sees after signing in: a read-only view of the projects you picked for them, under your workspace brand. Use it when a client wants to check rankings and traffic without access to the rest of your workspace.
Invite a client
- Open Settings and choose Team.
- Click Invite people and enter the client's email address.
- Under Role, choose Client. The role is listed only while the Agency add-on is active.
- Under Project access, tick the projects this client may see. A client always needs at least one project and cannot be given all projects.
- Click Send invitation. The link in the email works for 7 days and only for that email address.
The client signs in or creates an account with that address, confirms the email and accepts. They land on the portal dashboard. If the invitation email cannot be sent, Serplyze shows you the link so you can send it yourself.
To turn an existing member into a client, first limit them to selected projects, then change their role to Client. To change which projects a client sees, open their row under Team, click Change next to Projects and save.
What the client sees
| Screen | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | One card per shared project: clicks and impressions of the last 28 days with the change against the previous 28 days, average position, and keywords in the top 10 |
| Rank tracker | The project's tracked keywords and groups, including each keyword's detail page |
| Traffic | Pages and queries from Search Console, including page detail |
| Actions | Actions your team marked as client-visible, read-only (paid plans) |
| Reports | The project's saved reports, read-only, with their print view |
The header has a project menu that lists only the client's projects, the tabs above and Sign out. Charts show the notes your team marked as client-visible for that project.
What the client cannot see
- Projects you did not pick for them. Those projects do not load at all, not even by a direct link.
- Content findings, Content decay, Forecast, AI search and Backlinks.
- Alerts and the Google updates page.
- Ask Serplyze. The chat is for team members only.
- Settings: team, plan and billing, Search Console connections, API keys and Google Sheets links.
- Internal notes, workspace-wide notes and actions that are not marked client-visible.
- Saved report templates, project templates and the daily brands digest.
- Adding keywords or adding a project.
Opening one of these pages sends the client back to the portal dashboard. Clients also get no alert, weekly summary or sync emails.
The portal has a fixed set of screens. You cannot choose which screens or which metrics a client sees, only which projects.
Branding
The portal header shows your workspace logo, or your sender name when no logo is set, and uses your accent colour for the active tab. Browser tab titles carry your name instead of Serplyze. Set these under Settings, Agency, Edit brand; see White-label.
To check the result, open Settings, Agency and click Preview client portal. The preview shows the dashboard with the projects you can see yourself.
How read-only is enforced
The Client role is view-only in the database, not only in the interface. Row-level rules limit a client to the projects granted to them and reject every write, so a client cannot change keywords, groups, notes, reports or settings even with a crafted request. The same rules hide the team list, invitations, API keys, billing and connections.
Remove a client
- Open Settings, Team.
- Click the edit button on the client's row.
- Click Remove from workspace and confirm.
The client loses access to the workspace and all its projects right away. You can invite them again later. A pending invitation is cancelled with Revoke.
Requirements
- The Agency add-on on a paid plan, to give someone the Client role.
- Owner or admin role, to invite and remove people.
- At least one project that has finished setup.
The Client role and the branded portal come with the Agency add-on. See pricing. Without the add-on in effect, the portal header shows the workspace name instead of your brand.
