# Content groups and keyword groups for your Search Console data

> Group keywords and pages the way your site is organised: folders, manual groups and rule-based groups on query text or URL. See visibility, clicks and rankings per content group.

Search Console gives you one long list of queries and one long list of pages. Serplyze lets you sort them into groups that match the business (a category, a brand, a market, the blog) and then reads every number per group: visibility, clicks, rank spread and the share of the whole site.

## What it answers

### “How is the laptops category doing?”

A group holds every keyword of that category and rolls them up into one visibility score, its clicks and its rank spread, compared with the previous period. You report on the category, not on 400 single keywords.

### “Which section of the site lost the traffic?”

Page groups add up clicks and impressions for every URL that matches a rule, and show each group’s share of the site. A drop in the total becomes a drop in one section.

### Groups that keep themselves up to date

A rule-based group fills itself: every query containing “price”, every keyword landing on /blog/, everything ranking in positions 11–20. A tracked keyword joins or leaves as soon as it matches or stops matching.

## How it works: Two kinds of groups, one way of working

Keyword groups organise the queries you track. Page groups organise the URLs of the site. Both can be built by hand or by rule.

1. **Folders and manual groups.** Nest groups in folders that roll their visibility up, and hand-pick the keywords of a group. A keyword can be in a manual group and in any number of rule-based groups.
2. **Rule-based keyword groups.** Match on query text (contains, starts with, equals or a regular expression), landing URL, position, clicks, impressions or CTR.
3. **Page groups.** URL rules (contains, starts with, ends with, equals, regular expressions and their negatives) or a list of pinned URLs, with a live preview of the matching pages. Start from your site’s folders if you like.
4. **AI grouping.** Suggests a category tree from your keyword list and brand terms. Nothing changes until you review the suggestion and apply it.

## What you get

- Nested folders, manual groups and rule-based groups for tracked keywords
- Visibility score weighted by impressions, clicks and rank spread from positions 1–3 to 51+ for every group
- Up to 100 page groups per project, each with its share of the site and a note where groups overlap
- Groups everywhere else: alert rules on a group, forecasts for a group, report sections limited to a group, the Pages list filtered by page group
- Rising queries arrive with a suggested group
- With the Agency add-on, save a project’s groups and rules as a template and apply it to new client sites

Availability: All plans. Folders, manual groups, rule-based groups and page groups are on every plan. AI grouping comes with paid plans.

## What it doesn’t do

- Keyword groups hold tracked keywords, so they count towards your plan’s keyword volume. Page groups cover every page Search Console reports and are not limited by it.
- AI grouping sends only the query text to the model, never clicks or other metrics, and it is a suggestion to review, not an automatic change.
- Groups are built from Search Console data: there is no grouping by Google Analytics conversions or revenue.

## Questions

### What is a content group in SEO?

A content group is a set of pages, or of the keywords they rank for, that belong together: a product category, a blog section, a language folder, a brand. Measuring search performance per group shows which part of a site is growing or declining, which a site-wide total hides.

### What is the difference between keyword groups and page groups?

Keyword groups organise the queries you track and show their positions, visibility and clicks. Page groups organise URLs and show the clicks and impressions of every query landing on those pages. Most sites use both: keyword groups for rankings, page groups for sections of the site.

### Can groups be created automatically?

Yes, in three ways. Rule-based groups fill themselves from your tracked keywords by a rule on query text, URL or a metric. Page groups can start from your site’s folders. AI grouping, on paid plans, suggests a whole category tree that you review before it is applied.

### Can a keyword be in more than one group?

Yes. A keyword can sit in a category group, a rule-based “price intent” group and a “top 10” group at the same time. For page groups, the share of the site counts every page once and notes where groups overlap.

### Can I use regular expressions?

Yes. Text rules for keyword groups and URL rules for page groups both accept regular expressions, next to contains, starts with and equals.
