# See where AI Overviews may be taking your clicks

> See what AI Overviews may be costing you: queries that kept a top-3 position but lost click-through, and your share of long, question-style searches, estimated from Google Search Console data.

Google counts AI Overview and AI Mode impressions inside the normal Search Console numbers and doesn’t separate them. Serplyze says so plainly, then shows what your data can tell you: top-ranking queries whose click-through fell, and how much of your visibility comes from the long, question-style searches AI answers.

## What it answers

### “We still rank first. Why are clicks down?”

A list of queries that kept a top-3 position but lost click-through, with the change against the previous period or the same period last year.

### How exposed is this site?

The share of clicks and impressions that comes from long and question-style queries over 16 months, with its trend.

### Which pages to look at first

The top AI-style queries and the pages they land on, so you know which content sits in the part of search that is changing fastest.

## How it works: Measured numbers and estimates, kept apart

Nothing on this page claims an AI Overview that Search Console didn’t report. Every figure is labelled as measured or estimated.

1. **What is measured.** Clicks, impressions, CTR and position for every query and page, straight from Search Console.
2. **What is classified.** Queries are sorted into long and question-style (the kind AI Overviews tend to answer) and the rest, from the query text.
3. **What is estimated.** Click-through that fell while the position held is shown as a possible AI effect, with the size of the gap.
4. **Where else it shows.** AI-style and “CTR drop at top” views in Traffic’s Queries and Query × page lists.

## What you get

- Top-3 queries that lost click-through while keeping their position
- Share and 16-month trend of long and question-style queries
- Top AI-style queries and their landing pages for any period
- Comparison against the previous period or the previous year
- Measured and estimated figures labelled apart on every chart

Availability: All plans. Works from the data synced automatically for every project. Nothing to upload.

## What it doesn’t do

- Search Console doesn’t report which impressions or clicks came from AI Overviews or AI Mode, so these are estimates, not measurements.
- A falling click-through at a stable position can have other causes: ads, a new results feature, a changed title or season.
- It does not track whether ChatGPT, Gemini or other assistants mention your brand. Their answers change from one request to the next, so we don’t sell a number for it.

## Questions

### Does Search Console show AI Overview clicks?

Not separately. Google includes AI Overview and AI Mode impressions and clicks in the normal Web search totals, and its API has no filter for them. Any tool that shows “AI Overview clicks” from Search Console data is estimating.

### So how can you estimate the impact?

By looking for the pattern AI Overviews leave: a query keeps its position near the top but its click-through falls, most often on long and question-style searches. We show those queries and the size of the gap, labelled as an estimate.

### Do you check which queries trigger an AI Overview?

No. That would mean scraping Google’s results pages, which we don’t do. Everything here comes from your own Search Console data.

### Can I track my brand in ChatGPT or Gemini?

Not in Serplyze. AI assistants give different answers to the same question each time, so a “rank” in them is not a stable number. We prefer to report what Google measured for your site.
